Work For Stay At Home Moms - Online Jobs

There are many legitimate “work at home” job opportunities available for stay-at-home-moms. But if you are new to the work at home scene you will need to learn how to tell the difference between a legitimate job opportunity and a Internet scam. A great way to begin learning more  about working from home is by finding out what the Work At Home Mom (WAHM) experts have to say. Several accomplished work at home moms have created their own personal blogs or websites where they share the details of their work experiences with their online readers. You can learn a great deal of valuable information by reading through the articles posted on these types of websites.

You'll find helpful tips such as where to look for work at home job opportunities, how to avoid becoming the victim of a scam and what kind of income you can expect with online work. Some successful work at home moms post detailed online reviews of the different companies they have worked for, giving you an idea of what you can expect.

Research Companies Before You Apply

One way to avoid work at home scams is to thoroughly research the company you would like to work for to find out if they have a good reputation. Find out where the company is located, what type of experience others have had working for the company and check to see if they are a registered business. Often times a quick Internet search will provide you with the information you need but you may have to dig deeper for information.

Don't Pay For Anything

Never give a company any money. A legitimate company would never ask an employee to pay for a starter-kit or set-up fee. The company is supposed to pay you, not the other way around. If a company is offering big bucks for stay at home work then run the other way. Let's face it, the majority of legitimate stay at home jobs do not pay very well so don't fall for the "make a $1000 a week" advertisements.

When To Give Out Your Personal Information

Some people think that if a company requires a Social Security Number it must be a scam, but this is not always the case. Legitimate companies who hire home-based workers require the same amount of information from their employees as they would an on-site worker. They will ask for your full name, address, home phone number and Social Security Number. Some companies wait until you have made $600 before asking for your personal information, which they need to have for tax purposes. If you don't feel comfortable giving out your personal information to a prospective employer you probably haven't done an adequate amount of research on the company. Don't give out your personal information until you are sure it's safe to do so.

Be Professional

One of the biggest mistakes stay at home moms make when applying for a work from home job is not taking it seriously enough. If a company requests a cover letter and resume along with an application, don't assume that you might land the job without bothering to submit the resume. If your resume lacks the required level of experience then you may need to work on your skills before applying for that stay at home dream job. Take an online course to brush up on your skills or work as a volunteer to gain the work experience you need.

When communicating with a potential employer by e-mail remember to keep it professional and always proofread your e-mail before sending it. You don't want to lose out on a fantastic job opportunity because you didn't bother to spell check. If you've been out of the work force for a while do some research on e-mail etiquette to prepare for the online work world.

Great tips - you are right it should not cost anything and what I am finding is that most work from home jobs on the internet at usually a scam and just a way for that individual to make some bucks. It's very frustrating to say the least but thanks for this! Cheers

Whidbeywriter,

It can be difficult to weed through all of the scams, but there are a few good online opportunities out there. :)
