Actress Kristen Stewart - Biography

Kristen Stewart was born on April 9, 1990 in Los Angeles, California. Her mother, Jules Mann-Stewart and father John Stewart both work behind the scenes in the entertainment industry. Jules Mann-Stewart is a script supervisor and John Stewart is a television producer and stage manager. Kristen Stewart has one sibling, an older brother named Cameron.

Unexpected Acting Career

As a child Stewart though of becoming a writer or director, and had no plans to pursue a childhood actor career. That changed after an agent saw her in an elementary school Christmas play and noticed her talent. At the age of eight Kristen Stewart began auditioning for acting roles and landed a silent role in the “The Thirteenth Year” and a small role in “The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas.” After gaining a bit of on screen experience she was cast as a lead character in the film “The Safety of Objects.”

Kristen Stewart's Big Break

Her next acting gig was the role that would change her life. Kristen began her rise to fame in 2002 after being cast as the daughter of a wealthy mother played by actress Jodie Foster in the film “Panic Room.” Hollywood was impressed by the 12-year-old’s acting ability and Stewart was nominated for a “Young Artist Award.” Afterwards Kristen Stewart was offered plenty of acting roles over the next several years and appeared in “Cold Creek Manor,” “Catch That Kid,” “Undertow,” “Speak,” “Fierce People,” “Zathura,” “The Messengers,” “In the Land of Women,” “Into the Wild” and “The Cake Eaters.” Stewart was unable to keep her grades up while constantly working and left the traditional school setting to be homeschooled. She has since graduated high school and hopes to attend college and become a writer.

In 2007 Kristen Stewart landed the lead role of Twilight character, Isabella “Bella” Swan. Kristen Stewart won an MTV Movie Award for Best Female Performance and went on to star in The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

During Twilight Saga filming breaks Stewart worked on other movies. She starred in “The Yellow Handkerchief,” “Welcome to the Rileys” and “The Runaways” in which she played the role of rock legend “Joan Jett.” She is currently filming The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn movies which will be released in 2011 and 2012. Stewart will also star in the upcoming films “K-11” and “On the Road.”

Success as an Actress

At the age of 20 Kristen Stewart has already found major success as an actress and has already won her first Academy Award for BAFTA Rising Star award in 2010. She also won an award for “Best Female Performance” for “New Moon” at the 2010 MTV Awards.

Relationships

Stewart currently resides in Woodlands Hill, Los Angeles. Unlike many other young stars Kristen Stewart does not have a long list of ex-boyfriends. Kristen once dated “Speak” co-star Michael Angarano and has been romantically linked to her Twilight Saga co-star Robert Pattinson, although no formal relationship announcement has ever been made.
